While I regularly rail against lots of alternative medicine, I'm a big fan of good nutrition, exercise, yoga, pilates, meditation and friendships to counter the effects of our treatments.
Here is a link to a review of a movie Forks over Knives by Roger Ebert. The movie is a full out polemic on eating vegetables as a way to health and the regular diet as a path to ruin. My wife caregiver would love it and I've got to find out about renting it.
What's interesting is that at the end, Mr Ebert who is a tube feeder for life like myself has decided to move off of his canned nutrient diet and go to a liquid diet of fruit and vegetables. I was going to post this in the alternative feeding forum due to that, but the message of this movie makes this adjunctive therapy forum a better fit. Plus for once I wanted to post something positive here instead of feeling like the grinch stealing the wishes of a miracle cure away from posters.

Thanks Cheryl. For those who prefer to watch a video, here is a link to the Dr. Oz show on this movie. While I have issues with some of the wacky cancer stuff Dr. Oz has put on his show, he actually impressed me in this one by admitting more patients can be saved with a fork than a scapel. The link takes you to a Vegetarian website but just scroll down and click on the embedded Utube video. enjoy

Thank you for the info - Mr. Ebert words it well.

Have you spoken with your docs about making the switch for your tube feedings to veg-fruit?

Mr. Ebert's words hit home for me - we KNOW what we should do; we're just addicted to "foods" that are bad for us. Since my treatment started (OK, long before, from time to time), I have toyed with the idea of totally cleaning up my eating act. I'm currently in a "kinder, gentler" food re-vamp mode, and am focusing on less meat intake, and more veg and fruit. Baby steps . . .
