We don't have to wait until friday to find out. He's in shock, he was crying. Awwwww, I can't imagine the emotions that the patient experiences. Man... Enjoying the blessings each step of the way. Again, who ever has been able to master the art of staying in the moment should bottle it up and sell it. Later guys!
Dad Treated for T2N1M0 Tonsil Cancer August 2005. 35 IMRT radiation, 3 doses Cisplatin. Selective Modified Neck Dissection November.

First, major congrats in order for your Dad! As Helen says, sunshine ahead!
Don't know if this makes you feel better, but when we went to Sloan for a 2nd opinion, the doc there discussed progression of oropharyngeal cancer (recall Barry had been months between initial neck lump problems and final dx) -- he said that the spread to the nodes in the neck can be fairly quick but that spread beyond that is usually much slower, and in fact, in many cases never occurs. You should ask your oncologist about this but we also got about the same info from our MO and she's been around many many HNC patients.

Diagnosed May 2002 with Stage IV tongue cancer, two lymph nodes positive. Surgery to remove 1/2 tongue, neck dissection, 35 radiation treatments. 11/2007, diagnosed with cancer of soft palate, surgery 12/14/07, jaw split. 3/24/10, cancer on tongue behind flap, need petscan, surgery scheduled 4/16/10 ---update passed away 8-27-11---
