Hi All,

Well, I had my 4 month CT scans (Head, Chest, Neck) on Sat and will be going to U of C today to hear the results.

I have been having a tingle in my neck and quite a bit of swelling in the center of my throat. My oncol tells me the is Lymphedema. Man I hope he's right.

I will be back with the results later today.

Hope everybody is doing well. Talk to you soon.
Robert

Robert,

I'm hoping for totally good results for you!

(Coincidentally, today's Wall Street Journal has an article on lymphedema as an after-effect of radiation. I just finished reading it when I saw your post.)

Hi Everyone,

First let me thank you for your kind words. You are the best.

I met with RAD/ONC/SUG yesterday.

I actually got to see all of my CT scans on the computer not just a report. Pretty cool. No very cool.

All reports were very positive. Complete response is what they are telling me! I am so frigging happy I could burst.

My wife and I had a son last WED and making it to his birth was a large milestone. My next milestone is to live long enough for him to remember me. After that it's high school graduation.

I am thankful to god for the opportunity to write this.

Thanks again everyone.

Hi Randy,

Welcome to this site. I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but there is a lot of great information on this forum that should be helpful to you. Your post should probably be the start of a new thread (if I knew how to move it, I would -- hopefully someone else can do this).

It would help us if you could give us some more background to the extent you have it about the location of the tumor (tongue, tonsil, etc.) and what stage it is, if that has been determined. Also, what types of doctors have you seen thus far, and how was the tumor discovered?

There are patients, survivors, and caregivers here who have dealt with oral SCC in various locations and at different stages -- if we have a few more specifics about your situation, it will help in trying to give you some meaningful answers.

Cathy

Hi Randy, most of us here have it. Where is your at ot located. That would help us help you. Mine was on the tongue, first, then the floor of the mouth and finally in the jaw. Mine did not grow fast, but I also caught it early. Please write back and talk to us, hopefully out of all of us on the site, someone can help you or ease your fears. ALways, Vicki

Robert, I cried when I read your post and then showed it to my 20 year old daughter. I can't express how happy I am for you. I also understand how you are feeling about your brand new miracle, parents with cancer have a hard time seeing into the long term future with their kids. My youngest is 10 and I have two grandaughters, ages 4 and 6. Here is how it worked out for me: Starting out, I convinced myself I would be happy to "make it" to Sam's (my youngest daughter) High School graduation. Then, I "upped" it to seeing my grandaughters graduate. Then it struck me that all three of them would need me around when they had their own children, what if they had careers.........who would watch their babies so they didn't have to go to daycare????????? So, I concluded that I will just have to stay around to be that "cute" 90 year old I have always figured I would be. My two grandaughters have never seen day one in a daycare center thanks to "Nana", just seems fair that I do it for all of them laugh !!
So, up the ante Robert...............and we'll talk about this again in, say, 20 years???
Much love and kiss the baby for me.
Minnie
