I was watching Dr Steve today. Blythe Banner was on it. They showed her PSA clip about OC. I was surprised to see they even mentioned OCF too. They showed the OCF website and Ms Danner talked about OC and OCF too. Even though it was brief, she did a great job of talking about both OC and OCF. Ive seen her on other interviews talk about OC, I think it was on The View or some similar show. The show I saw today was a repeat, it first aired 9/4/11.

She has also been on other talk shows this week, as she is on an junket to promote her latest movie. Blythe has been OCF's strongest celebrity supporter, for many years. In these short interviews she is supposed to keep to the movie's interests, and generate viewership for it. But she always manages to put a plug about the disease in where she can, and if the interviewer lets her, continues on to speak about OCF, our web address for more information, and of course the painful loss of her husband to oral cancer.

As the matriarch of the Paltrow family, she made the decision to form the Bruce Paltrow Fund inside OCF in 2006, and following her lead, her daughter Gwyneth, and son Jake, have joined in. Jake was responsible for much of our success at the Paltrow fund raiser evening at the home of producer Tom Fontana in NYC. Gywn, has been responsible for the generation of the largest single donations to OCF over the last 5 years, directly impacting the quantity of grants OCF has been able to make to HPV research with Dr. Gillison's team, and underwriting our public outreach to inform people of the new etiology that too few have heard of. Gwyneth's desire to increase her role in the world of cancer by becoming the Executive Producer of the Stand Up to Cancer TV fundraiser for research, (this Friday night - please watch) show her willingness to use her celebrity for the benefit of others.

OCF has been a strategic partner to the SU2C effort for the last 5 years, and has directly benefited from that relationship. This Friday, I, my wife, and Jamie O'Day from OCF, will be at the TV event in LA, behind the scenes. We are being given an opportunity to mingle with the celebrities on the show, and we hope to close a couple of more to do PSA's for us like the one recently done by Academy Award winner Michael Douglas which is currently running on TV stations around the US.

All of us in the oral cancer community have benefitted from the commitment of the Paltrow family, and I personally owe them a debt which I will never be able to repay - they have helped me realize a dream to make a difference in this disease. A dream that I was not sure could be accomplished in my lifetime. With their celebrity help, and the energized volunteers that work with OCF everyday, I now believe that it can be possible.

Brian, stage 4 oral cancer survivor. OCF Founder and Director. The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant.

It was a GREAT show!!!! The highlight of it for me was seeing the photo of Susan Lauria's brother, David. It was towards the end when Tim McGraw was singing Live Like You Were Dying. It was the photo of the guy on the mountain bike with his arms in the air like he just crossed a finish line.

I also saw a photo of Brian doing what he does best. He was talking with Dana Delany. Im sure Brian was able to get OCF some recognition, especially with Jamie and Ingrid there too. Cant wait to hear the stories of what really went on behind the scenes of the show.
