I finally finished radiation on the 14th. I didn't think that I was ever going to be able to eat again. But I am starting to eat a little bit more everyday. Still have sores on my tongue. I never had to have a peg tube but I sure didn't eat much during radiation. I lost only 30lbs during surgery and radiation. I still get tired but am getting more energy everyday. Thanks everyone for being here.

WTG Angie!!! It gets better every day from here!! Just stay hydrated and continue to eat. At the very least keep working your mouth and Jaws so they don't get real stiff on you. Trismus is a bear to deal with and it seems the more I keep movement going the better things are. Mornings are now the biggest challenge at 7 months out. It also seems that I can talk easily but when it comes to eating my mouth sure doesn't open like it used to. I had a speech therapist give me exercises which have really helped as well. I still get sores now and then. It's scary when they appear but it seems the better hydrated I stay, and the more I "swish" water, etc., the less likely I am to get sores. They also seem more prevalent around the scar tissue when they do appear.

That's great news Angie! It feels so good to be able to say you got through the treatment. Like Steve said, it gets better from here. Just take your time. Your body is still going to be healing from the radiation for awhile. When you're tired....rest. When you're hungry...eat and of course keep hydrated. I drank alot of protein drinks, and still do to help with the healing. Wishing you the best. Linda
