Brian,

Just curious did Womens Health Magazine contact you?

Im certainly in favor of getting the word out about oral cancer and the great OCF, just wondering what prompted the sudden interest.
They contacted us about three months ago, but at the time they wanted specifics about patients, that in maintaining people's privacy, I could not give them. The idea bounced around there for some time, but I think that having people tell their stories on their web version of their magazine might be their final idea. I really have no control over what they intend to do, but I hope (as always) that the oral cancer story and message will get out, and that some references to OCF make it out into the world as well, so that someone will not have to end up here because we were able to tell them something that changed a behavior, or allowed them to discover things early.
Brian, I will try to write a brief history of my struggle with oral cancer. Of course I will be mentioning OCF several times.
I am working on writing something right now for the OC walk, and will mention OCF quite a bit. I will send that to the magazine as well.
Hi All:

Yesterday, I wrote a long narative recount of my oral cancer experience, but as soon as I sent it, it came back with this:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

So, if any of you have the same response, please reply. I went to the url it said to submit your experience. Thanks.
I told Brian about this, but at that time he had had no other problems from anyone. Wonder what I'm doing wrong now confused

Forgot to mention, I sent it to the right url:
mailto:[email protected].?subject=Cancer, but resent it with "test" as subject so I could copy/paste here.

I just sent mine and had trouble too. After staring at it for several minutes, I noticed a period at the end. Remove that and it will go thru.

See, I told you - you are soooo smart wink
Thanks. I'll re-write mine today.

Im not sooo smart....you are SOOOO NICE!!!!!!
I hope more women from OCF will take a few minutes to write to womens magazine about their OC battle. I mentioned OCF several times and even wrote a whole paragraph about the forum and awareness. The more people who write, the more the magazine will see its a disease that doesnt just affect a few people. Its a terrible form of cancer that everyone really needs to know about and know what to watch for, not just breast cancer.

Come on girls, lets bombard them with our stories!!!!!
OK ladies. Those of you who wrote or are writing a 'blurb', how long is it? I started one on paper and it is getting too long.

Brian,
Do you know what length or detail they are looking for?

Take care,
Eileen
Eileen, with my long history of 3x having OC, I found it difficult to keep it brief. I really tried to trim it down but still it was probably one typed page.
Done. Damn it was a pain trying to get rid of that trailing '.'. My computer just wouldn't let me delete it. I finally gave up and just typed it in but since I type as well as EZJIM, even that was a chore.

Ok, we need more stories.

Take care,
Eileen
I'll write one!
Thanks Elizabeth smile

We need to all speak up and tell our stories. If just one person benefits then its worth the few minutes it takes. The more of us women who write to them, the better our chances of it becoming a topic and oral cancer getting some recognition.

Remember to delete to punctuation marks that follow the email address or it wont go thru. Here is the link to the magazine....
