My mom has only taken her first week of Chemo and her lips are burnt. This is so painful. She has the pain patch and she is taking Norco in between but the pain from her burned lips is still unbearable. Does anyone know of something she can put on her lips to help ease the burning .

It's not fun. I still have trouble with my lips. They get dry and I rarely wear lip color because the wax in the colors dry my lips out. I always have 3 or 4 lip things going and in my purse. Try going to a health food store and grabbing one that is all natural. Right now I am using rose mint lip balm by smith you can also buy it at sephora. It's not cheap $10? But it's soothing and cooling. Hugs.

Is this Lip balm sold at a health foods store ?

I assume this is from chemo, the various side effects, infection, angular chelitis, dehydration, lack of sufficient nutrition... I used vitamin A & D ointment in the hospital, vitamin E, I believe, and biotene dry mouth gel on my own, including fungal, anti-bacterial medications when given. Vaseline I heard not to put on the lips, but really forget why or if so, applying ice chips may to soothe the lips may help too, but check with the doctors, nurse as to the cause, treatment.

Good luck.

there are great vitamin lip balms at the health food store. The rose mint one I was talking about is sold at sephora. I really like it. There was a white one I bought at whole foods that was natural and organic and terrific - I think it was by J. Witner or something.

The mint rose I like because it is a little more tacky than the regular balms and lasts longer plus the mint is soothing. Hugs.
