Just wondering whether anyone is familiar with tongue flap thinning. I know that it is performed sometimes if the tongue flap is still too bulky months after surgery so they thin it out.

After I had to get the 2nd tongue flap reconstruction due to radionecrosis ORN, my tongue flap is probably going to have to get thinned out at the front so they can put some teeth implants in.

I would appreciate anyones experience or advice on this.

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen,
As you can see I have had some experience with debulking of the flap including liposuction. Have a look at my signature.
Am at work now and do not have time to write more but will get back to you soon.

At this point, all I know is that Dr Haakenslash told me that he deliberately grafts too much tissue, rather than too little, because he can remove excess later but can't add any.
