There have been many discussions on acupuncture, mostly with unsatisfactory results (except for the doctors making money off of it). Do a search on the archives for this topic and you will get an earful. Your best shot at preserving salivary function is if you are are candidate for IMRT. Some had had limited sucess with Amofostine (if they could tolerate the treatment).

Hi RDB, I tried accupuncture for about 6 weeks a little over a year ago. I think I wanted it to work so badly that initially it did a bit(maybe mind over matter type of thing), but then I really didn't notice improvement and insurance would not pay for it, it got a little costly. However, I had a wonderful dentist at the Maryland Dental School working with other patients, too, so hoping they got better results than I did. Take Care, Carol
