Hello all, hope you are all doing well
I go in for a CAT scan of my neck two hours from now,and I have never had one before.I am of course worried about the procedure and what they will find.I am anxious about the dye they give you,any comforting words right now would be great! Take care

Frank`s had more cat scans than I can remember, once yoy`re through it, you`ll realize it was a piece of cake.........If you are scared, tell the techs, they are usually great at talking you through, so just tell them you`re scared........let us know how you make out......Hugs, Dee

CT scan's are probably the least scariest of all of the scanning technologies. The machine has very open architecture (no claustrophobia issues) and it's fast. The contrast agent didn't bother me at all. Reactions to it are fairly rare.

I understand your fear. I never had a CT, MRI or PET scan before any of this also. Now I have had more of these scans over a three month period than most most people have their entire life.

It's not a sign of weakness to ask for anti-anxiety medications. Anxiety is normal. I took them for months and they really eased things a lot - so much so I slept through many of the scans. If you're not scared of the scanning procedure itself, then you're scared of the possible results.

I will keep you in my prayers for a great outcome.

I've had a couple of CT scans and it was a pretty quick procedure. Both times I was told the dye would make me feel as I had to go to the bathroom -- but all I felt was a slightly warm sensation.

thanks guys for all of your advice.I tell you the worst part of it,I had to wait 2 hours to get it done,at 3pm and hadnt had anything to eat or drink since 7am,so I was already feeling like crap,so when it came time to go through with it,I was a nervous wreck.Got through it though and they say I should hear from my ENT doc tomorrow or Weds.If you dont mind throwing an extra prayer my way,I sure would appreciate it.HUGS to all of you

Good thoughts and prayers heading your way. If there is a delay in report, CALL! Sometimes they get misplaced and that could cause needless worry on your part. I bugged my ENT's nurse almost daily for my report, and I just knew it was going to be ok. (Thank you Heather, RN - you have the patience of a saint!)

Sincerely,
Lisa
