Hi.....I guess I am here to see if anybody's diagnosis stemmed from a knot under their jaw. I am a CNA and am currently in nursing school so my first thought was to think that maybe I just had a swollen lymph node ( that's what I was wishing anyway ). But I know mine is too far in the middle for it to be a swollen lymph node which leads me back to my original question. I have had some ulcers in my mouth of late off and on but nothing that has stayed any longer than they should have. The site of the lump is tender to the touch but not painful when there is no pressure applied to it. I have noticed the past two to three weeks that my mouth has just really felt sore ....almost like i should have a mouth full of ulcers. My inner buccal area ( inside of cheeks) are sore as well, along with my tounge. I know I need to go get it checked out, but I really had just been passing it off as a stress related occurrence. It has also seemed that here of late I try to talk slower because I can feel the soreness more when I try to say as much as I want as fast as I want(lol)...always getting ahead of myself. The thing about it is that I just quit smoking four days ago. My luck probably not good....shall see. I am a single mother of four....all they have...I have a business degree, and look forward to finishing my associates of nursing. You know...really making things click for us here so we can get things right. I guess I am just really looking for someone to holler at me and say.....no way, you are fine. Thank you to all that relpy.

Sky, you and we have no way of knowing what your lump is. You must see an ENT and have an exam, and probably a biopsy. Then you will know what is what. Chances are you ARE fine, but either way, knowing sooner will benefit you.

That you quit smoking is the smartest thing you can do. That takes guts and I am proud of you. Do not let the stress of worrying about this make you start again. The only good thing about smoking is that it enriches the tobacco companies. Hang in there, and on Monday make an appointment to see where you stand.

We will be thinking of you. Be sure to let us know the outcome.

Sky,

I agree with Joanna. Best to have it checked instead of wondering. I think I waited to long with my first episode and it might have had a lot to do with the 2nd. Who knows?

Good for you to stop smoking. It is hard to do, But think of the MONEY you will be saving now! Plus your health will be greatly improved.

I will pray that all will be OK for you.

take care
Diane

Thanks to both Joanna and Diane for your responses. It was a benign tumor so thank the God in heaven I am ok. I will pray for you Diane. I can only hope things get better for all of you. I am so glad I am going into a field where I can help people in their time of need and make a difference. Diane you are in my heart and prayers.

Thanks so much,
Sky Blue
