Hi There,

It has been 9 months since I have been on this web site. The changes are great. My question is this: My Dad had surgery and radiation for squamous cell carcinoma of the Buccal mucosa. He has been followed up monthly and within one week his tonug has swelled (same side as the cancer) and mildly is impairing his speech. He will see his doctor on Monday. I would like to know is swelling a symptom of tongue cancer? I am trying to prepare myelf and my parents before we see his doctor. Thanks for your assistance.

Leslie

Leslie,
I am sorry it has taken so long for anyone to respond to you but we have been kind of absorbed with Danny Boys passing.

There are lots of reasons why his tongue could be swelling besides cancer, infection, lymphedema, thrush, complications from the first surgery. Please let us know how the visit with the doctor went.
