Let me be to the point, 32 year old caucasian male, no history of smoking, drinking, using nicotine or narcotic related products, no personal history of any cancer, no family history of skin or oral cancer.

Yesterday i noticed "large" palpable nodule on my bucal area of my right cheek. Nodule is slightly lighter in color underneath the regular pink lining, has same color as bucal linea alba. I have a tendency to bite my cheeks and its present in the moral area where i have several jagged including one broken molar. I think i bit on it because one spot felt painful and i have a tendency to suck my cheeks against my teeth.

Went to 5* reviewed oral surgeon today, he evaluated and his opinion by sight and touch that it was buccal fibroma, but he did not wish to give me any assurance until after biopsy.

Needless to say i am worried now frown
Welcome to OCF. The only way to tell for certain that something is cancerous is a biopsy. If a sore has been in your mouth for over 2 weeks and it has not healed then it should be checked by a professional. there are many different things besides cancer that can happen in a persons mouth. With what you have written I am hoping this sore is due to something you have accidentally done. Will you be having a biopsy?
its not a sore its a growth on my buccal linea alba that oral surgeon said its his opinion is fibroma on the way it looks and feels, i am a cheek biter. He already removed it this morning with eliptical excision for biopsy.

But huge stress is there.
I know it's stressful and the wait doesn't make it any better. Hopefully he's right... and it's a fibroma. I don't want to add to your stress, but just because you don't have any precursors doesn't immediately mean it's not cancer... read my signature. I'm the same as you. That said... it's likely nothing. If it is something then you've caught it early so try not to fret... rather do something to take your mind off the next 10 days... The reality is you'll know either way very soon. Don't worry now, it's done, it either isn't or it is. If it is you will deal with it. It's great you had it looked at and biopsied you are ahead of the game. If the biopsy comes back negative, just keep an eye on the area regardless. It took a few tries before they caught mine as it was hiding in my tongue, and I too had an irritating molar!
take care and welcome.. I hope you don't have to be here for long.
thank you all for support, i've been scouring internet *i know its terrible idea* looking for pictures of buccal fibromas and buccal cancers and comparing them to what i self-examined yesterday. I think odds are in my favor of it being something benign, now i just need not to lose my mind in a mean time
Here is a gallery of all kinds of mouth problems from the main OCF pages. Click on the photos then on see diagnosis.

Has your oral surgeon sent the removed tissue out to be tested?
It looked like this (it was removed 10:00am this morning via eliptical excision for biopsy)

http://oralcancerfoundation.org/slide_pages/page7_slide2.htm

Except it was a bit paler (similar to color of linea alba) and more distorted due to my molars constantly clamping on that area with a small red spot on top which i am pretty sure due to bite. It was also painful and felt like a bit inside of my lip.
Usually oral cancer does not hurt. The picture is something noncancerous. Try to keep yourself busy while you wait for the results. Its usually a week before you get them back. Best wishes!
Reason i'm worried is because i had similar yet different experience. I had 1mm mole on my face that was reviewed by several people including dermatologist who said it was the most typical "freckle he ever seen". I asked for it to be removed and biopsied and sent to lab. In lab it took 2 derma-pathologists, including one that specialized in melanoma for 32 years to discover a focal severity in melanocytic cells and their dna that warranted return for marginal excision. I pinprick within a pinprick, sorta speaking. So i hope you understand where i'm coming from, but yes worrying about this would do nothing but down my immune system i'll try to find something to fill my mind with. Thank you for bearing with me.

P.S. My oral surgeon just called me to check on me if i was in any pain. Very considerate of him. I see him next week.

I get nervous whenever I read or hear that oral cancers tend not to hurt. In my case and many others that I have met, pain was the first symptom. I had pain for a couple of months before my lesion erupted. My pain would wax and wane, but it was persistent. Pain is a signal to your body that something isn't right. It doesn't always mean assume the worst, but it can often be an early sign if nothing else is obviously wrong. I wish I knew about the 2 week rule then. I was lucky. That's why OCF's mission is to save lives by education and awareness smile.
Me tooooo!!! I had consistent pain, sometime is was worse but it was always there! I say this all the time. Some cancers are painless - some aren't that's why it's not a great symptomology to rely on when making the devision to see a dr. Point dexter I too required several trips to the dr to be diagnosed that's why my trust is a little shaky. Good luck! Fingers crossed its nothing.
Please let us know how you make out. Wishing you a quick recovery and of course only good test results.

Too many times patients dont get taken seriously when they are young. Too many doctors, dentists and specialists still think oral cancer is a disease for older smokers. Im glad you were able to identify what you had with one of the OCF's gallery. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

stressed out right now, still no call from the doc, i think its too soon for results anyway. But stressed out like crazy. Few E-friends told me they had something similar with benign results but it doesn't really make my stress go away.
Try your very best to keep yourself busy. It will keep you from worrying. I know waiting for results is like torture. It takes about a week to get the results and my docs would never tell me a darn thing over the phone. I always had to go in and get told face to face my biopsy results. Here is PA its going to be one cold snowy weekend so it might be the same for you in NY. Find yourself something that keeps your mind occupied like reading or watching movies. Please let us know how you make out.
Update: still no biopsy results but i had another lump pop out right in front of the excision site. Looks almost exactly the same as first one only without bite mark and smaller. I definitely think its irritational fibroma, i cannot see cancer growing out in just few days out of the blue.

I told my surgeon, he did not seem worried and told me not to worry and keep waiting for biopsy results, but at this moment i have a good feeling rather than bad feeling.
Hats great!! Hopefully it's exactly what he said!!
