Hello all....just joined...about to celebrate 5 years cancer free in November. Tongue and lymph node cancer...more than half my tongue removed...re-built with skin from my left wrist (flap), neck dissection
Doing well...blessed to be alive
Because my tongue cancer was so far in the back of my mouth my surgeon had to cut the bottom of my face in half (through lips, teeth, jawbone...down to neck dissection)...I have a scar that runs down the middle of my chin...anyone else out there have this??? Have met other survivors, but no-one with my "butt chin" as I lovingly call it
Also, how is speech for everyone. I now speak with a British accent and my surgeon told me that is pretty rare.
Just throwing stuff out there...
Love and recovery to ALL of you...

Hi there - welcome! I had a similar cancer and surgery without them having to split my jaw - there are a few here who've had it done though. I'm sure they'll be along to welcome you as well. So glad you are doing well and cancer free. Hugs
