I am not sure why I havent heard much about this product on this site, (it seems to be more directed to CF patients) or if anyone here is familiar with it, but I got a couple of boxes of "Scandishake" - it is packets of a powder that is specifically for weight gain. Says if you add a packet to an 8oz glass of whole milk, it is 600 calories. I tried the vanilla, and it was actually pretty good, and it's reasonably priced. It says it can also be added to or sprinkled onto other foods.I couldn't find it at the chain drug stores, but fortunately there is an independent one near my mom that carries it. When I tried to find a store to buy it in (as opposed to on-line), oddly enough, Office Depot came up!
I know i am sounding like a commercial here, but again, I am curious about this product; if there is a "too good to be true" factor that I am missing, or what.
Thanks!

Lyn

Scandishake is just one of many high calorie nutrition drinks.
It will be part of the OCF Ipad app list since some other posters mentioned it. It doesn't get much mention here since it's important to get lots of protein when recovering and Scandishake has a poor ratio of protein to calories. You could drink 3 bottle of Ensure Hi Protein for the same amount of calories as one Scandishake but get 75 grams of protein instead on SS meager 14 grams of protein.
Here's SS nutritional breakdown from Livestrong.
A single Scandishake envelope mixed with 8 oz. of whole milk provides a total of 600 calories, 14 g of protein, 62 g of carbohydrates and 29 g of fat, with 13 g of saturated fat. The high fat content is what allows Scandishake to provide so many calories in such a small volume. Contributing to the carbohydrate content are 3 g of dietary fiber and 18 g of sugar
.

Thanks, Charm-
I appreciate the info. I guess since I am in bulk-up-pre-treatment mode, I wasn't paying attention to much else but the caloric numbers. Lesson learned, read the entire list!

I LOVED Scandishake! I still drink it mixed with milk, Carnation Instant Breakfast powder, whey powder and coconut milk.

It was the taste I liked. It was the best chocolate drink I could find. Yum!
