I have been out of touch for a bit, but wanted to update you on Ken's status. The J tube is out! Yippee. For those of you that don't know - a J-tube is like a Peg tube, but goes directly into the small intestine. Kenny has had the tube since last August and was ever so ready to have it removed.

We've had some large ups and downs this year - very, very serious depression, a really rough round of the flu (March/April) - then bam ... a serious of mini-strokes (May) and emergency surgery for a detached retina (June). It is so nice to share a bit of good news!

Happy Monday everyone!
Carol.

Carol, that is really good news about Ken laugh Will you have to push to keep weight on him? I was struck by your post on the "what I wish I had known" thread. I have a suggestion for you on the struggling with letting go of the caregiver role. Don't let it go- just turn it around to "loving and caring for your husband" and ask him to do the same for you. Gearing down from being a caregiver to a loved one in crisis is really hard, but gearing up to living the rest of your life with someone you love is a joy. So make a promise to yourself to Not Sweat the Small Stuff and enjoy your time together. Amy
