Barry update & Hasta la vista for while... - 01-14-2006 10:37 AM
Hi all --
Just a quick note to say Hi to everyone on the forum and also, hasta la vista as we are off to Mexico in a couple of days. (Back January 26)
Had last consult with our MO Tuesday -- she was very pleased with Barry's progress and how well he is doing re eating and being active. The consult notes from his many appointments (not all at the Kimmel CCC) are all on the Hopkins computer and she checked up on the input from dental onc etc., gave him yet another physical exam, and then shook our hands and said, "well, I don't expect to see you back here in this examining room again, go have fun in Mexico." We won't see her again for some months unless the next PET/CT (at end of March) shows a problem. Our RO and ENT will do the bulk of routine monitoring from now on.
Only issue now remaining is Barry needs to regain weight he lost -- about 10 pounds would be OK -- which is proving difficult but not unexpected based on many comments on this forum and from the nutritionist. He's eating well but is also very active so not many "excess calories" apparently. Birding in the Sierra Madres will probably not help, either though I have hopes for the famous coconut banana cream pie at our hotel!
Anyway, 'bye for a while...
