I have a 3 month PET scan Tues and appointments all day Wed. Doing good up till now. Getting so scared, nervous. Psyching myself up for the possibility of a neck dissection but other than that I think its a little PTSD about going back to the hospital I had all my treatments at and remembering. I made it through ok. Chemo was OK. Rads was ok and I conquered the mask. Guess I have scananxiety and I do have leftover Ativan. Sigh. Trying to eat more too thank you ChristineB! I want to get this damn tube out.

Boy time flies! Seems like it was only a week or so ago that you first posted.

Yes, I am a nag about eating. I hate seeing anyone struggle when its something they have control over. Not eating enough landed me in the hospital a few times. Im so glad you are focusing on your intake!

You arent alone with the scanxiety. Most of us have it when check time draws near. After going thru so much, its normal to be more than a little nervous about appointments. Going back to the place that caused you so many traumatic experiences is difficult. For me, Im almost 7 years past the major life-changing mandibulectomies. Thats where my son sat and talked to me every day for 2 months even while I slept in a medically induced coma for 3 weeks. It still bothers him when he goes back to that hospital. If taking Ativan works for you to get past the scanxiety, then use it. Would talking with a therapist help too?

Easy to Eat Food List

(All measurements are estimates)

Giant High Calorie Choc-Peanut Butter Milkshake (1200++ calories per shake)

3 or 4 cups chocolate ice cream (regular/full fat type)
2 tablespoons peanut butter (smooth type)
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1 or 2 cups whole milk (can substitute half and half to add even more calories)
1 scoop carnation instant breakfast
1 scoop high protein whey powder
(check with doc if this is ok)

Blend this extra long to make it very smooth and creamy so it goes down easier. If the shake is too thick, add more milk to thin it down to what works best for you.

Maybe the above list of easy to eat foods and the calorie loaded chocolate milkshake will help. Best wishes with continued improvements with your eating!!!
