1st year recovery, i was strong enough to get to the local canoe/kayak races to see my friends.

2nd year recovery, i was strong enough to paddle some and entered 1 race just to see the creek.

this year, i'm strong enough that dic and i are going to paddle tandem canoe. dic drove 60 miles round trip to take care of my yard while i was in treatment. he is in his 70's and was going to sit out this season because paddling solo is strenuous. we met at the first race i entered about 10 yrs ago and have become buddies. so today we are off to our first event of the 04 season. 8 miles down a creek and across a river. weather is nice and we should have fun and not work too hard.

what else are folks doing,
as time goes by?

Right on Larry! It sure is great to get some little pieces of normal back isn't it?

Last year I was only able to prune 1 shrub every couple of days. On Thursday I was able to prune all eight in the back yard. I am paying the price but at least I was able too.

This post should be in the survivor section.

One year ago today I was still in the hospital, just starting to move around a tiny bit with a walker. My surgery was April 16th, came home on April 27th.
Today, I got up at 7am, went to the Cinema Cafe at 10:30 for a youth team party. I had breadsticks and a Philly Cheese Steak sandwhich (I don't eat the bread though!). From there I came home for a few hours and did some things around the house. Was at the gym at 5pm for a meeting with some of my parents and staff. This lasted until 8pm. Off to TK Tripps for some French Onion soup and Filet Mignon with my husband and some friends and now I am here, sitting on the computer checking up on all my cyber friends! Such progress made in one years time. It never goes away but it sure does get better. Progress is a painful thing, but this type of progress I LOVE!!

Hooray Minnie!

Are you ready to start your cheer year again? Tryouts must be coming up if you haven't already had them. Your healing cycle reminds me of a team building... first you put em all together, and nothing works quite right but hey by Nationals, they are in sync!

Goosebumps time... we have so much in common...

Hey Lisa, we just finished up tryouts and posted the results tonight! 252 kids, just amazing the talent we have now. This gym and these kids had so much to do with my healing, I don't think they realize how much.
We're coming to Disney this year for a Nationals and thinking of Las Vegas also...............I'm so pumped about it all.
ps. my youth team has 6 flyers that all double down BEFORE the season even starts..........can you imagine. Four fulls and about 6 in the wings. I feel like a kid at Christmas, I just can't believe all that I have been given.
Take care,
Minnie

Minnie, I always enjoy hearing about the great results from your kids! I'm sure you have a lot to do with it, too. I had a Philly Cheesesteak today (WITH the bread, too). laugh

Gary, Last year I had to ask some friends to cut my grass for the first time in my life. It was very humbling. Now I have been cutting it three times a week for the excercise and trying to ride the bike for 5-7 miles afterwards! I spent 5 1/2 hours tilling up an area to put in a great landscaping display to honor my deceased mother. I pruned 4 trees and at least 15 shrubs.
