My sister, Shirley, needs an Obturator. She had a Maxillectomy on 9/11/12 for ACC of hard palate and lymph nodes. Radiation is to start in 2 weeks. Does Medicare EVER pay for the device? She has a secondary policy but if Medicare doesn't pay...they don't either. Thank you, Sandra, her CG and sister

I have previously responded to your other similar post. Call your sisters insurance carrier (Medicare) and ask. Thats the only way to tell for sure what her coverage is.

You know it's so difficult for you over in America with the obturator I feel very lucky I haven't had the worry of payment for mine. I would say the same as Christine ring and find out. The obturator if like mine is essential for me to talk drink and eat! I can't see why it would not be covered.
