Dr. Jerry, if I called my dentist to have him see me before my next appt on oct. 9th, do you think he could tell if there was anything wrong in my mouth if my ENT did not see it two weeks ago. I am getting desparate here and can not get in until my Oct. 9th appt. I now have pain in my gum area, but there is no open sore or redness. I can move my tongue across the back right side of my gum, and it hurts. I can not feel any lump and i do not see any lump. I do not want to hear that no one is worried about this. I am tired of hearing those words. Anyway, could he give me some insight as to what it might be as well? Thanks.

It certainly is worth trying to get an appointment. Hopefully, he will be sympathetic to your concerns and fit you into his schedule. I have had patients with symptoms one day and we could find nothing and then the next day something showed up. Also, dentists and ENT's can look at things from different perspectives.

Go for it.

Good luck and let me know what happens. You can send me an email if want, as I check there more often than the forum.

Waiting to hear how you make out Angelia. Is there anything worse than people telling you that you don't feel what you CLEARLY DO??? Good for you for pursuing the pain. I think the pain is your body telling you that something is wrong - maybe its just a renegade nerve or two but somewhere from someone you need an answer.

The one thing I've learned from being a member here, you can't ever ignore anything. I sure do hope that someone can help you out. It must be really frustrating!

I called and left a message for my dentist to call me back. Do not expect to get a call until tomorrow. I am freaking out here. I now have pain on the roof of my mouth, but I can not see anything. I can not get into my ENT until Oct. 9th, and I wish it would hurry up and get here.

Just wanted to update you all, I went to the dentist today and he said that a biopsy would be warranted, but he is not too concerned. He did say there was a definite lump on the back of my tongue, and said that it gets a little dicey with places like that. I do not know if that was good or bad, I will be talking to my ENT next Friday about another biopsy or MRI or something to figure out what all this pain is from. UGH!

To me dicey makes it awfully close to a big maybe . I hope it isn't and am wondering why he would tell you that and raise doubts in your mind. I hope you are alright Angelia. I know you hate to worry like this.

Thanks Jim, I am okay. I just try to remember that no one says it is yet, and I am trying to focus on the facts of a clear PEt scan 3 months ago. I have now had to start taking pain meds and I am losing weight like you would not believe. I event tried to eat as much as could one day and see if I still lost weight and guess what I did. Normally, I am one who gains weight just looking at a brownie. Don;t get me wrong I love that my pants are too big now and i am going to get a completely new wardrobe, but I didn't anticipate 10 pounds in one week. My teacher assistant and I have be talking about all this and she said I am handling it rather well. She also shared with me that her grandmother lost her life to oral cancer. I am like, that doesn't help me out here. Anyway she did say one of the first signs her grandmother had was weight loss. I go back to my psychologist next Thursday and maybe I can get some help with the anxiety. I did take a Xanax last night just so I could sleep. Oh and my blood pressure is extremely high with me stressed about this all the time. I guess i need to send some more prayers up to heaven.

I lost weight rapidly too Angelia. I just think it is part of the ball game we are in. I lost 70 lbs rather quickly and have only regained 35 of it back, and belive me, I try to pig out. The tasteless food doesn't help much either. But really, I would like to stay at this weight I am at right now.Don't worry much about the weight but enjoy life and food if it has a taste. I weighed 174 when i was 17 and a senior in High School
