As some of you know, I was very, very fortunate during my 4 months of treatment. But this weekend and today, the radiation is finally extracting it's justice. My tongue is super sore. I, personally, believe it is because the tongue is rubbing on a tooth. For the time being, I using Oxycodone, but if it gets worse, I'll switch to the patch. I'm hoping it just heals as quickly as it did at the beginning of treatment. I'm just dealing with whatever each day brings. I going to wait to celebrate with a big, fat juicy steal when my taste buds come back. Thanks for everyone's support. Sandyst

Your post has such great energy!! I'm glad that you did great throughout. Radiation took its justice with my husband way before the 7th week...I'm glad it held out much longer for you. And, I hope your recovery goes as well as your treatment.
I still remember my husband's first "real" fat juicy steak. It was at Gibson's in Chicago. I can't wait to read about yours!! That happened to me and it hurt like hell. Look closely and you may see a white blister like looking thing on the side of your tongue. Other than "pink magic" or "magic mouthwash" there is not really much you can do about it except wait it out. Mine took a long time to heal as I recall.
Congratulations on finishing rads - let the healing begin!

It seems you were a lot like I was during treatments. No problems but at the end they kinda snuck up on me . What the really bad part was were the rad seed implants in my tongue. It's been over 1 1/2 yrs since those things and it feels like yesterday. Heck, I just grin and bear it. I'm just gklad I have Delilah after dark to listen to while I am reading and posting in here.

One quibble, there is no "justice" with radiation, in fact the aftereffects are quite unjust.
