I am four week post surgery on the right side of my tongue. Now my front top teeth feel really strange. They feel like they are loose or maybe going to fall out or something. I know there not, but it sure does feel different. No matter how much a brush them they feel like they have not been brushed in a long time. This is a new thing, just started like a week ago. Anyone else go through this? My next appt. is not until July 1, and that is when we schedule the PET scan.

Angelia,

I had the same thing happen to me after surgery. I thought my upper teeth were going to fall out, very loose. I waited a few weeks everything is fine now. If it does bother you call your doctor.

Thanks. I go to my PCP today for a blood pressure check, as I too have High blood pressure. I will talk to her about it and see what she thinks I should do.

Well, my blood pressure is down an the medication I am on and the weight I have lost is controlling my blood pressure. She did refer me to a counselor to help me deal with this stuff, as my mind is consumed by it all.
I do have one other question about my original post. I am also have horrible pain when I just brush my teeth, and it is on my gums on the top. They do feel swollen, but I can not get into the dentist until June 30th. UGH. Could that just be an infection or is it something i need to be concerned about?

It sounds to me like you should get an appointment to get checked out. An infection in your mouth can become something serious. if you are in pain and yoru teeth are bothering you, please do yourself a favor and make an appointment. Nobody should have to suffer any more after what you have already gone thru.

Ask for something called magic mouthwash. It will help numb your mouth and enable you to eat and brush your teeth more comfortably. There are several different variations of it. Mine was lydocaine which numbs, maylox to soothe and benedryl. It works very well and was a life saver for me and many others on here.

Sounds like you have a gum problem. Have you ever been diagnosed with peiodontal disease? I doubt that any problems with your gums would be related to the surgery. Stress can cause problems with your gums, too.

You should try to get an earlier appointment with your dentist. If your dentist won't see you for 3+ weeks when you are having a problem, I would say it's time to find another dentist. Our patients never have to wait more than a day to see one of us for an emergency and most of the time they get an appointment the same day.

I have not called my dentist about the gum problem. It is starting to clear up. I started using the mouthwash I got from my ENT again. It seems to be doing the trick. I will keep an eye on it. I will be out of town this next week. If it is not any better I will try to get in when I get back into town.
No, I have never been diagnosed with periodontal disease. I would not be surprised if that popped up now as i could not brush my teeth for a few days after each surgery. I coudl get one side, but not the side the surgery was on. It just hurt too bad. It is getting better now and the swelling has gone down a lot. Thanks for the input.
Are you a dentist?

Went to the Dr. this morning. Guess what> I have strep throat again. I went to an after hours clinic since it is Saturday. He asked me if the strep throat I had turned out to be cancer. I told him the strep throat came after the cancer diagnosis. Is there any bearing that strep throat could be cancerous? Anyway I was so glad it was strep throat and that is why I have been having the ear pain and throat pain. Never been so glad in my life.

Yes, Angelia, I am a dentist. Not brushing for a few days will not cause periodontal disease. However, not flossing daily over a period of time can lead to gum disease.

Strep throat does not cause cancer.
