My office deals with Delta Dental all the time. They sell dental insurance and as far as I know, that's all they do. Beats me why they would want to know a cancer survivor's story.

Jim, I would be interested to know if you can find out.

Thanks.

Jerry

I had to put new batteries in my keyboard... THey interviewed me and asked a lot of questions about what it was like at 1st, how long it was until I was diagnosed, where was it diagnosed, what it's like living with OC, the same questions we aske\ each other just about,. They want to put everything I told them into a release about my life and send it to the news in this area and have me represent Oral Cancer patients in the tri state area. I will get a copy of it to review and give my opinion to them. Then supposedly it will go to the news media in the surrounding Tri States.

I checked their website and they have a section on "Oral Health and Wellness" and in that section there is a section on Oral Cancer. They have a article on at least one OC survivor.

I interviewed with Susan Ferraro and 2 of her associates today as well. She works for Franco Public Relations firm in Detroit and was hired by Delta Dental to create awareness about the rising incidence of oral cancer and the importance of regular oral cancer screenings. She posted last week looking for oral cancer patients/survivors in the Midwest. Jerry, Caller ID states her number as 313-567-2300. Her direct line in 313-567-5046.

I have talked with them recently, they are the PR firm for delta. They asked me lots of questions about incidence rates etc. to get their facts straight, nothing more. Their motives may be benign. Remember that they have promoted Oral CDx and other adjunctive device screening mechanisms, in the past, and you do not know if your story is purely about their desire to see that people get screened or get screened with a specific device. I don't know, and they did not reveal to me what their angle was. Nice people, intelligent questions, but no discussion of what they were going to do with it. Of course it wasn't my personal story, just providing them with accurate facts.

My hope is that Delta, being a non profit insurance company, just wants to enroll more people, which isn't unusual nor bad, and oral cancer as a motivation to get people back in the dental office and have/buy dental insurance which is a legit angle. Of course I am just speculating here, I have no idea what they are going to end up doing. As many of you know I am not fond of the many manipulations of Oral cdx, their marketing rhetoric, nor Vizilite both of which have been Delta partners.

I just went to the site Susan posted. This does explain things much better than I did for sure. They are very nice people and very understandable. I enjoyed talking to them . If my mouth hadn't have been so dry an d hurting, it would have been more enjoyable talking. LOL As you know, I like to flap my lips.

I imagine that like all Ins. Cos., that they have offices scattered around the country.
