Well I spent over 3 hrs in the Drs this afternoon and he was very through in my mouth. It's there. He asked me if it wasn't on just the left side last time, I told him they tried to tell me that but ended up cutting the right side the last surgery at OSU. When I walked out of his office it was almos 6PM and we were still taalking.LOL Man he is a great Dr. He tried to get things set up for a PetScan and biopsies but will do that tomorrow. He gave me a script for Cipro becasue it could shrink that blasted thing. We are both hoping. I really won't know more until I hear from him, but he wants to see if it gets shrunken any by cipro. I met the nicest lady in there.he is from N. C. Was in for a follow up. I love the way they talk. LOL I even told the Dr to go and do for her what he had to,.She thanked me.So did the DR and Nurse comment on how nice I am. Gheez

Can someone answer this question for me. When Jim was diagnosed with Cancer,we got a $300 check from the cancer society. Do you know if this $300 is just given in certain states ? I have a friend who lives in another state who has cancer and I was telling her about it. Does anybody know the answer to this ? Thanks. Claudia

Jim, glad you had a very thorough doc appointment. Hope the cipro helps take care of whats wrong. Its a very strong antibiotic, make sure you eat soemthing with it or you could get a really bad stomach ache.

Claudia...Im in PA also but did not get a check. They helped me with providing a driver a few times for me to get to radiation. They also helped with covering some co-pays for my meds.

Alot of people dont realize the American Cancer Society is there and can help in many ways. Glad you brought this topic up.

I called the cancer society and all they told me was that if I were in South Florida or near one of the teaching hospitals they would have more to offer.

40 yr old. Stage IV SCC found left tonsil. PET/CT shows cancer on base of tongue, floor of mouth, lymph nodes on both sides. HPV 16 pos. 6 weeks of cisplatin, 43 days of radiation. 73gy on each side.

Jim,

You said, "It's there", do you mean they suspect a return? By giving you the Cipro I assume they are hoping it's an infection but if they are planning biopsies so soon then the Cipro certainly won't have any time to work.

I have gotten a total of $800 from the local cancer societycalled the national office and they told me to call local. It's there if your area has a setup for it. And yes Dav id, it is more than likely back in it's home under my tongue. WE hope it shrinks the tumor some so it isn't in the way and getting hurt so much.I can eve\n see it and I'm a rookie LOL
