Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,219 | I know it's early, but in speaking to many of you, I have found a great deal of interest in members wanting to attend the 4th Annual NYC walk for OCF.
I have checked with NYU Dental School and the walk will be held on April 18th, 2009.
As we get closer information will be posted in the Events section of the website and I will keep everyone informed.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

Thanks for posting the date Jerry.
Last April, I had been looking forward to going so much. I couldnt wait to finally be a part of supporting OCF in person and raising awareness to this terrible disease. Unfortunately, last April I also got the bad news that my OC had returned and I would need surgery. I was so dissappointed that I wasnt able to go to the walk.
Last April, Jerry walked for me and for many others. He carried my picture with him along with those who also sent theirs to him as well. This touched me greatly, how someone I never met would show support. Jerry collected lots of donations and pictures for this worthy cause. I told Jerry last year, that in 2009 I would be there and walking with him.
My calendar will be marked and Im looking forward to attending NY walk.

8-13-08 left neck dissection and 40% of tongue removed, submandibular salivary gland & 14 nodes clean, no chemo, IMRTx35

Thanks for the information, I have it on my calendar as well. I believe Eva is planning her walk for April 19th too. So if she does, it will be a busy weekend! I look forward to seeing you and Christine and anyone from the OCF.
I think that is such a nice thing you do with carrying peoples pictures at the walk. Very touching and heartwarmimg. I am sure the peoples pictures you carry means alot to them.

Dianne..treatment at cc at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario...insulin dependant, Surgery Sept 8/08 Tracheotomy,composite resection and bilateral neck dissection, left radial forearm free flap... T2N0 squamous cell carcinoma. No radiation A little over 2 yrs clear YAY

The tentative date for the Allentown walk Eva is setting up is May 2nd. Hope to see some OCF members there as well.
