Hi,
I had gone into my general family dr. this morning. My nerve's have been few and far between with the swollen lymph nodes in the right side of my neck, the bump or b'b size knot in my mouth .This knot is hard, doesn't hurt( unless I rub my tongue on it). The dr. looked in my mouth. He found 2 white patches in the back of mouth and told me not to worry about them. I didn't even know they were there. He said the hard , round knot below my bottom teeth on the inside of the floor of my mouth was no more than just a cyst.He didn't suggest removing it or anything.A wk and a half ago he said to keep an eye on the node's. I did and they're larger.Today he said for me to keep an eye on them and see him back in 3-4 wks. I left with no answer's only more questions. I'm a nervous wreck. This is the only dr. I can go to w/ my insurance. Please advise. Thank you , Jennifer

While I do not have all the facts, I am not fond of "wait and see" attitudes. The white patches in the back of your mouth could be many things, leukoplakia, lichen planus... some of them benign, some of them the first step to things really bad including the big C. Without further diagnostic tests such as a biopsy

Thank you for your honest , caring advice. Straight forward and to the point. I like that quality in a person. I will take your advice. I agree with what you have said for many reasons. The most important one is that of experience, knowledge, and just good clear thinking. That seems to be one area of mine that's been clouded.
This dr.'s office that I go to, is always booked with the poor. The Dr and staff are overworked. On average, the referral time to see any specialist is anywhere from one to three wks. Today, I am getting on the phone. I'll call my insurance provider and look at options and then I'm calling an oral surgeon.
