I was diagnosed scc stage IV in dec. 07 had glossectomy and left neck dissection in jan 14 08. started radiation in feb 08 finished apr 16 08 33 imri. got very sick with swelling and hardness in left neck was hospitalized and dr discovered cancer in the lungs. on may 29 got port put in starting chemo on monday or tuesday. I have so many questions don't know where to start. good luck and god bless to al

Im sorry you have had to go thru so much. There are so many wonderful caring people on here who will be able to help answer any questions you have.
I have a port too. Mine was put in July 29, 2007. It has made chemo and having bloodwork done so much easier. Its also very handy for if you get dehydrated and need IV fluids, it goes thru the port.

Welcome to our group. Not a club you wanted to join I'm sure but there's a lot of people here who will have experiences to share that will make it an easier or at least more informed journey for you. And then there's the rest of us who will listen and root you on.
Cancer of Tongue, SCC early Stage 1, Dx 3/13/07, partial glossectomy 4/14/07 found no residual carcinoma and a granular cell tumor with pseudo epitheliomatous hyperplasia.

cg to husband, 48 Stage 1V head and neck SCC. First surgery 9/07. Radiation and several rounds of chemo followed. Mets to chest and lungs. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." Went home to God on February 22, 2009.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
