With windows 95 I am surprised you can see anything on the web anymore. You need a new operating system, it won't be just OCF that you cannot use properly anymore. Please note that we just spent a ton to rebuild EVERY page of the OCF web site to meet new web standards. In a year or so if you don't meet those standards, you won't be found by the major search engines anymore, and people will not be able to display your pages (please note the W3C logo in the bottom of the OCF home page window and click on it). In an operating system as old as yours you cannot even get support from Microsoft anymore. There is nothing that Chester or I can do to help you. The web (and computers) are a constantly evolving and improving medium.... I wouldn't even worry about the Java updates, they will be part of a new operating system package. You have to keep up. This also means that all those old abandoned sites and junk on the web that exist now will disappear as time goes by and the new standards are implemented by the majority of sites and operating systems/browsers. As a MAC user who doesn't even run virus or spyware protection....I heartily endorse going MAC.

Ubuntu Linux would probably work on that hardware...
and it's free

I'm probably going to take Brian's advice and get a MAC for my next computer. But I have a '98 PC to replace and I'll probably get a PC for that. My Vaio laptop I am going to replace with a MAC.

My old one lost the motherboard.. The stroe manager is a friend of mine and said don't buy the vista yet. It has too many bugs in it, I asked if he had any new leftovers with XP.. Got lucky and he had one in a box. Ended up with a really good one for less money. And no problems.

Well yes and no. From what I have been recently told, it is up to the local store as to if they will or will not, however from the online business unit, it is a definite no.
The downgrade to XP is gaining in a lot of area's. Ask and then demand is the best policy at this point.
There are still several manufacturers that do still offer XP as a standard offering.

At first it's like trying to adjust the mirrors, steering wheel and seat in a new car while driving 80 miles an hour and trying to change lanes at the same time. However once you get everything coordinated it can really take off. I found the biggest challenge was updating everything. If you get a new machine with Vista preinstalled that wont be a problem.
