Hi all. My name is Thomas. Has anyone in this forum had any experience with "GEOGRAPHIC TONGUE"?? It appears that I have this now.
Please read my story in "Introduce Yourself / happytobealive" When it first appeared it scared the hell out of me! After some Google
searching I found out that there is nothing to worry about. (I hope) There might be a connection between lack of saliva during eating and vitamin B and zinc in my diet. I am not sure about that.
I would like to hear from anyone with similar experiences. I don't think there is an connection between my past tongue cancer and this.
I am going to email my surgeon, and will ask him as well. All comments are welcome! Cheers. Thomas in Calgary, AB

Here's a link to the Mayo Clinic definition of it: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/geographic-tongue/DS00819

I used the search function of the message board and came up with this answer from when this question was answered to another's question.

Thomas,

I have seen hundreds of patients with geographic tongue. Most don't even know that they have it as they think everyone's tongue looks that way.

It is benign and is nothing to be concerned about.
