Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 294 | I will be starting the HBO treatments tomorrow, 2 hours per session for the next 20 days. I will be doing the individual chamber method as opposed to the larger walk-in type unit.
I will gladly answer any questions I can for anyone else regarding HBO as my treatments progress. It would seem to be something that a lot of OCF members are not all that familiar with.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 1,627 | I echo Joanna.........I did three courses of HBO for dental work and dental implants and it worked all three times. Time consuming but worth the peace of mind! Even with my new fibula, I've never had any trouble with osteoradionecrosis and I had tons of teeth removed.

SCC Left Mandible. Jaw replaced with bone from leg. Neck disection, 37 radiation treatments. Recurrence 8-28-07, stage 2, tongue. One third of tongue removed 10-4-07. 5-23-08 chemo started for tumor behind swallowing passage, Our good friend and much loved OCF member Minnie has been lost to the disease (RIP 10-29-08). We will all miss her greatly.
