Dear maz,

Sorry to hear about your reocurrance. I know you can beat this one two. My reocrrance showed up last June and so far the chemo is holding the beast at bay. It CAN be done.
You will have plenty of fight prayers heading your way from Wisconsin.

Best of luck, Danny Boy

Hi Maz,
I'm not certain I understand your post. What treatment are they now going to do this time? Are you having surgery or radiation? Is it possible for them to rmeove the tumor with laser surgery? I had a total laryngectomy and outside of having a hole in my neck and not being able to swim or sing, my quality of life is just fine. So if it comes to that, it is not the 'end of the world'.

Take care,
Eileen

Hi Maz,
Give 'em hell. I assume you will be getting a TEP. There were able to put mine in at the of the surgery. Sometimes they have to wait to put it in. They were also able to do my surgery without having to take an artery from my arm so healing needed on the arm or leg either. I also had a neck dissection at the same time. I was out of hospital in 5 days with nasal feeding tube which came out about 8 days later. Was then able to talk a little using TEP. Damn thing kept getting clogged and my speech therapist forgot to give me the brush to clear it. If you have any questions, please email me.

Take care,
Eileen

Dear Maz

Your attitude WILL get you through.

I'm so sorry you have to undergo treatment again. I'm thinking of you and sending positive energy all the way to Middlesborough (where my dad was born).

Love to you from Helen

Just a few thoughts I had after i posted. Make certain that you have a surgeon that has done a zillion of these and is a good plastics man. Also,
I have only seen two of these and am told that they 'don't do that anymore', but I know two people who ae wearing a horrible metal neck collar that apparently also hurts. Make certain that doesn't happen to you. I have nothing around my neck and just glue on an circular adhesive and insert a HME value in the morning. Do ask lots of questions. A speech therapist should have evaluated you and explained what to expect. The one good thing that came from my surgery is that I was able to eat a lot more foods like bread that hadn't been able to eat after radiation.

Take care,
Eileen

Hi Maz

The address given by my dad's mother on his birth certificate is 9 Leven St Middlesborough West. Anywhere near you? He was always very proud of his Yorkshire heritage - born 1922.

Love and light from Helen
