Congratulations Minky on a successful first year!!

Enjoy the coasters with all you've got!! Those hills, dips and loops probably don't seem as impressive now considering all you've been through. Keep up the good work... smile

Ha Ha - they cancelled my third cisplatin -thank you very much! I don't think I would lived through a third one - didn't need it anyway, the tumor was totally gone after the third week in radiation.

I think you need a 12 step program for PEG tube dependency but then again maybe it's like John Malcovichs portal -just watch out for that New Jersey Turnpike!!!

Congratulations on your first year. I'm only 3 months ahead of you and it does seem a little abstract at times. I'm glad that you're still sharing with us.

Minky,
Great news at year one!! That's about the time I started going on the rides again, too! At 21 months past treatment I'm still riding them and it hasn't added anymore pain to my neck than the usual stiffness I put up with. Go girl!!!! And the peg is an easy out. Just one tug and you hardly feel it's gone. - Kris

Minky,

Congratulations -- that's terrific news!

One of the things I've enjoyed about those kinds of followup visits is the smiles on the doctors' faces when they know they only have good news to tell you.

Stay healthy!

Cathy

Minky,

And a whoopy tie yie yay! I am so excited at the big milestone for you. I am so looking forward to experiencing it firsthand, too. I didn't have the neck dissection but just more cooking on the neck. I was riding the slick carts yesterday and this 300 pound gorilla lady plowed into me so hard it knocked my glasses about 5 feet in the air. I am sore today but she has no idea what I have already endured!

May your path remain steady.

Ed

Excuse me but besides the great survival story, I believe the words are: Gotta ride down baby into this tunnel of love....

Happy for you Minky wink

Gosh, I hope I am posting where I should be. Anyway, I have a question, I had surgery two years ago (tongue and neck dissection) and about a month or so ago, developed a small sore over my trach scar. The surgeon immediately went in, cut on it and had it tested and it came back negative for c. Gave me antibiotics, went back to him yesterday cuz it just won't heal, I am going in for deeper surgery on June 11th. He thinks (and I am hoping) it might be a leftover stitch from trachetomy causing chronic infection. Anybody else experience anything like this? Thanks! Carol

Thanks every1! I'm seriously looking forward 2 having some FUN. When we left the house for surgery a yr ago I told my husband not to worry cos next summer we'll be at a park slurping on some slushies & think wow what a weird last year we had & high-five it baby. I kept meditating on that thought when things got rough during treatment. Keep postive guys!

Carol L~I didn't have stiches, they just let the hole heal from the inside out so I don't know. Good luck to you, I hope all goes well.

Minky,

I'm so happy for you! Since the first day that you posted I knew you had this thing beat because of your extremely positive attitude! Congratulations!

Ed,
I can't picture you on a slick cart track. Now I'm really curious about what you look like? The only time I ever ride those things is when we go miniature golfing after a few cocktails and I've crashed pretty bad too. My neck was pretty sore for a couple days....
