Of course I spent a day being anxious about it and hated all the poking and prodding in my mouth, but the feeling of hearing those words is priceless. I gained 7 pounds in the past 6 weeks and he doesn't need to see me for three months. I am two pounds shy of my pre-diagnosis weight! Awesome day, I feel like Carol Brady I'm gushing about it so much. Take care everyone!

We will all miss her greatly.

Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.

Finally after the last scan came back ok I feel like I can proceed with life and get on with it.
Still havent' gained all that much weight though, not sure I want to at this point.
Congrats Bob
SCC Tongue, stage IV diagnosed Sept, 2002, 1st radical neck dissection left side in Sept, followed by RAD/Chemo. Discovered spread to right side nodes March 2003, second radical neck dissection April, followed by more RAD/Chemo.

This check up meant alot to me, there have been lots of little things crop up in my mouth that have scared me and this clean check up lets me know that radiation does in fact do a NUMBER on your mouth. I turned a corner with this check up, I feel a little more "safe". Not that I still won't check my mouth a hundred times a day, but each little thing won't strike such fear in me. Here's to many, many more good check ups for all of us! Minnie
