When was your birthdays?
I know what you mean about a loss...I still miss my brother terribly, this January will be 9 years...still bothered by his empty seat and my Aunt Lauren's-who was only 5 yrs older than me, best friend, gone for 7 now.
You are so right in what you said. Thank you!!

Hi Donna: I just e mailed you and am so sorry for it!! I should have read your entry first!! You are going through a lot with your mom. I am 68 so a few years older than her. Divorced about 20 years ago but my 25 year old granddaughter lives with me and my youngest son just across the street. Both very supportive. Plus I still work. Sounds like your mom is depressed- try setting some simple goals with her so she can put her mind on something else, also let her do all she can for herself before you step in. I know my first time around I had to get on my feet quick and keep working, I had no choice. This time I can afford not to work but am going to try to continue after my treatment. Reading your entry answered one of my questions that I had about the burned tongue. Sounds like she is having the worse of it. Maybe the brac treatnebt is worse that the daily rad treatments. As for you - stay strong and don't be afraid to ask for help and support. Dont't feel guilty about your feelings, I have worked with the elderly for years and see families go through this quite often. Do something for yourself. We have caregiver support groups here in Flint, maybe a group like that would help. Remember if you don't take care of yourself you can't be there to take care of your mom. Venting your feelings is a good way to release your anxiety and fears. God bless you and your family.
Connie

Life is tough donna as you well know, but we have to face it head on and make the best of what there is. I lost my best friend to cancer 1 yr ago on New Years morning and he did put up a good fight , but lost. Lost my mom to it too just when she was coming out from losing my dad. I hope I have the courage to keep the fight going this time and can kick it's a-- again. You are doing such a good job with your mom, that I admire you big time. I am going to be 72 the 21st of Feb and plan on a few more just for the pleasure of making my kids miserable LOL Was married for 43 yrs and got divorced. I want to outlive her so she doesn't get my Insurance and make her more miserable than she is. LOL Have a great day all.

Hey Connie,
No problem.
I think having imrt, Erbitux and then brachy immediately after fried her mouth. Really think brachy alone won't be as bad.
Mom has become so much more independent, each day she tries to do more and more alone. I haven't been able to let go all the way yet-it's hard as she is still so fragile emotionally at times.
She wished you much luck and said she would be happy to speak with you.

laugh Jim, you really made me laugh, too! I was only married 26 years and got divorced but I outlived my ex and got his insurance!! I don't mean to sound insensitive, because when he died, I did feel badly. He had quit drinking and gotten to be a pretty nice guy. His #2 wife (or..widow) is nice, too.
