Tomorrow is my 8th and final induction chemo (taxol/carbo). I then get a two week break before radiation/chemo begins. So far, I have been one of the "lucky" ones that has had no bad reactions to my chemo so far. I am scheduled for 33 radiation and 6-7 more chemo treatments. Anyhow, enough about me! During my treatments I have met a true world class optimist! His name is Mr.Dawson, he is said to be 92 years old and is in the middle of chemo himself. He is there week in and week out with his Daughters, never misses a beat, I hope to be that way at that age!

There is a world of information here and lots of great folks to help answer questions, motivate, and get you through the next steps of your journey. It's wonderful that you have met someone to inspire you. I met one of those "special folks" during my chemo treatments as well. Mr. Davis is in his 70's, a ten year cancer survivor, being treated again for another tumor, still working full time, and so positive and full of energy. The first time I met him we shared a room in the chemo unit. I think the nurses may have had something to do with that as I was getting my second chemo cycle and the radiation was starting to beat me up. He really lifted my spirits and inspired me that day.
Anyway, keep that kind of attitude no matter what and it will help you. Davidcpa recently made a great post about his journey through radiation and he mentions the mental part of the battle which I feel is so important to us.
Attitude helps!!! Best wishes,
Steve

My radiation starts 02.12.2007 for 33 treatments. I had my mask made quite a while back and go in on the 8th for a test fit since I have put on several pounds since then. I am a nervous eater with cancer that just quit smoking as well, a combo sure to pack on a few! I'll deal with the weight later, bigger fish to fry right now(no pun intended).

Putting on a few pounds right now before radiation is a good thing! Most of us lose weight during radiation, some more than others. I lost 65 pounds which I could stand to lose at the time and have put 20 back on in 2 years. So, don't worry about the weight and eat well (not necessarily junk) till radiation begins.
