This came as good news,as I have gone through the initial shock of the diagnosis and want the battle to begin.
They also told me that my PET scan showed only the known BOT tumor and the single lymph node on the right -- good news!! I know that this is not a clean bill of health, due to the possibility of occult cancer cells not showing up yet, but since I am having bilateral neck dissection on Thursday, I feel better, justified or not.
So, we now begin . . . Jeff SCC Right BOT Dx 3/28/2007 T2N2a M0G1,Stage IVa Bilateral Neck Dissection 4/11/2007 39 x IMRT, 8 x Cisplatin Ended 7/11/07 Complete response to treatment so far!!

I know what you mean about being ready for the battle. I had to wait 3 weeks for my surgery and it wasn't very pleasant. Somehow you fight the bad feelings before but when you know there is cancer in your body it just feels awful.
Good luck hope you do well in the hospital. You are in caring hands that will heal you so just let them take care of you. Be sure to express what you are feeling- your needs etc to the nurses... with a pad and pen etc. so that you do not have too much discomfort or pain.
Praying for a good surgery for you with CLEAN margins and then just some follow up tratment to insure they get it all. That's what I got so I'm hoping this will be for you too.
I had my surgery Mar 2nd and just started radiation and chemo-- Day 2- not too bad.
it too me about 3 weeks to recover fully from the surgery but I think mine was more extensive. Once you get that evil cancerous tissue out of your body you are going to feel soooo much better.
Best of luck to you and here's hoping for a scessful surgery and speedy recovery and overall SUCCESS and long term survival.
