My first cisplatin is in 50 minutes. Just took my Emend. Zofrin to follow any second.

Full face radiation starts Monday.

Jeez....

You can do it. We'll be here to help. Come here as often as you need to to ask questions, vent, etc. There are so many of us who have gotten through this who had our doubts that we could at first. It's hard but it's do-able, especially with the support you'll find here.

3 days after 1st Cisplatin. Nausea is manageable, but I'm very fatigued. I guess this is normal.

Get my radiation sim tomorrow.

Fatigue is normal. I also had nausea that wasn't all that manageable so you're ahead of the game as far as I'm concerned! Good luck with the radaition simulation. Soon you'll be snoozing through your radiation sessions, though you may not think that's possible on the first or second one.

Hi Clint,

The fatigue is normal and you'll have that throughout. It sounds like the emend and the zofran did what it was supposed to. Compazine isn't strong enough for first line nausea management but it can be helpful for breakthrough as you continue.

Hope everything goes well with the radiation. Don't forget about staying hydrated and getting at least 3 quarts of water every day.

Regards JoAnne

Also, if you haven't already talked to someone about a PEG, do so. By my second chemo I got so sick that I had to be hospitalized for fluids. It sounds like you are not sick from the chemo like I was, but if you do, you might also find it really hard to drink any liquids normally.

My biggest issue is constipation and feeling "foggy." Kinda like I can't focus my eyes. Is this normal?

Are you taking compazine? I always thought compazine gave me that foggy feeling more than the chemo itself. When I was taking it, I actually couldn't read online. I mean, I could read the words but somehow stringing them into sentences and paragraphs that made sense didn't work for me anymore. Maybe it was really a combination of compazine and the chemo itself though and I just always attributed it to the compazine.
