I'd also put in a vote for the Caribbean - but with the heavy duty sunscreen caveat. The rays there can be a system shock especially to those of us from the north who get pretty weak sun for a lot of the year.
Other favorite spots in a different direction: Canadian Rockies (you can do parts by train and enjoy the scenery), Alaska, Maine coast.

Diagnosed May 2002 with Stage IV tongue cancer, two lymph nodes positive. Surgery to remove 1/2 tongue, neck dissection, 35 radiation treatments. 11/2007, diagnosed with cancer of soft palate, surgery 12/14/07, jaw split. 3/24/10, cancer on tongue behind flap, need petscan, surgery scheduled 4/16/10

It is our dream to move to Florida just as soon as I get my five year all clear, in the meantime, we love to cruise in the Carribbean, and take a few days before and after either in South Beach in Miami or Fort Lauderdale. My favorite, dream spots? A beach in St Maarten called Baie Rouge, and one on St Thomas called Sapphire Beach. My husband has a website, Lifeiscruising.com with reveiws and pictures of our travels.
