Hi Everyone:

Okay, so Frank is indeed a hard man to find but after a few attempts, Dave and I found him tonight and had a great visit.

Packer is as Packer always is-witty, upbeat, and giving the thumbs up high sign at the mention of his friends at OCF.

Frank is getting through radiation well and says he has some mouth pain but is mostly feeling tired. He does have some facial and eye swelling but that didn't stop the twinkle I remembered so well from the last time we met. We didn't take it too personally when he started to doze off while we were speaking. I told Dave his nasal British accent must have that effect on people.

I let Frank know that his OCF family is sending him good thoughts and pulling for him and he was very appreciative. He says thanks for the cards and he LOVED the Green Bay Packer book Dan sent so kudos to you for a good choice!

Dee will be joining us here in Boston on Thursday so we hope to get to see her too. In the meantime, please keep the cards for Frank coming. Anyone who missed the address can e-mail me and I will forward. For those that inquired about the zip code, it is 02445.

Today was good-I feel so lucky to be part of this group. Dave has a check-up tomorrow and will be on the receiving end of the ever popular scope. Since I'm not known to be less than an anxious wreck, I feel perfectly comfortable asking you all to send calming thoughts my way and clean scope findings Dave's way.

Kim

Hi Kim,

My thoughts are with you and Dave for a great check up. I wanted to thank you for delivering the Ray Nitchkie book to Packer for me. I only hope he enjoys the book as much as I enjoyed sending it to him. You have to let me know what kind of cheese you like so I can send you some of Wisconsin's finest. My email should be up and running by about 3pm today. I have a Road Runner Tech coming over to set it up on the new computer, I an electronicaly challanged when it comes to hooking these new fangled gadgets up, My wife used to put all the kids toys together when they were were little. Take Care and I am sure Dave is going to have a great check-up.

Just finished my second chemo treatment and starting my second week of RAD, my mouth hurts like hell because of trush (doc says a little soon for this!) and I go to the site and all I read about are the Packers.Next Monday night my Eagles visit your shrine! Can I get some action - Philadelphia Cheese Steak for a nice wedge of that fine Wisconsin chedder!

Hi Len,

You have a wager!!!! Did you see the Sunday night game? The Pack played well against the Vikings which no doubt helped your Eagles. I always liked Andy Reid, Kind of a throwback in time kind of guy. We will have our hands full against the Eagels. What is thrush? I sure hope you have few side effects during your treatment. Are you having IMRT?

Also I wanted to thank you for Reggie White.
I'll have to wait for the Philly steak until I can eat again>

Good luck to you Len, Your friend, Dan

Dan

I couldn't eat the cheese right now so don't feel bad about the steak. The Pack looked great last night - but I don't expect a letdown on Monday night at home. I can only hope for a big spread! Thrush as I understand it has several names but it is a fungus infection and I am getting meds to treat it. I am not getting IMRT as it is not the standard treatment at this particular cancer center here in Philadelphia. We will figure out an appropiate wager reward. Take care.

Dee,
What part of Maine do you live in? I spent my first 28 years in Maine, Bangor area. My mother and sister still live in Pembroke and I come every year for the 4th of July celebration in Eastport. Glad to hear that Packer is doing well.

It's a very small world Dee.........and I certainly do know where Machiasport is. My sister graduated from University of Maine-Machias and I attended University of Maine-Farmington for two years before transfering to nursing school. I lived in Calais for four years when I was in grade school, but spent most of my childhood in a tiny town called Levant. It's right outside of Bangor. After I married I lived in Bucksport until I moved to Va. Beach in 1989. My family is thick with Indian blood so I spent many summers and vacations up Pembroke and Eastport way. My dad was an engineer that drove the trains through the reservations in Eastport, me and my brothers would go with him when we could.
I will be coming to Maine for the 4th of July next summer, couldn't get there this summer as I spent it with my good buddy called "radiation". I would love to stop and see both you and Packer. Hope all is going well with Packer. My brother and his wife live right outside of Boston and they both tell me that Packer is at a wonderful hospital right now.
Boy, it surely is a small and cozy world. This post has taken me down a memory lane that I haven't traveled for quite some time. Think I'll visit it more often.
Take care Dee,
Minnie

Minnie, it sure is a small world, Packer is a wanna be Indian, and we both have a deep respect for Native American spirituality, worlds are small and things are weird..........Last oct, Packer had another emergency surgery, I put myself in camp crazy..........happened to be in with the nephew of an Indian who Frank had met when he was in the hospital, we talked the hospital staff into letting us do ceremony outside, on the day of surgery, and I knew that whatever happened would be the right thing. Would love to have you visit..........Love, Dee

You're on Dee, I'll see you the first of July, 2004..........expect to meet lots of new friends, I have a huge family.
My childhood did not involve much of the indian culture, my father just didn't want that. I had waist lenght black hair, always kept in braids, so was called "pocohontas" non stop and "minnie-ha-ha". My brothers and I have the Penobscott indian green eyes. My sister married an Indian that grew up on the Eastport reservation, his father was Governor of the indian nation in the 90's. Maybe we can all go to the 4th of July celebration in Eastport, it's alot of fun, good small town fun. My kids thought it would be silly but ended up loving every minute of it. You won't find that kind of fun here in Va. beach. I would move back to Maine yesterday if my oldest daughter and mother of my two grandaughters had not already made her life here. I just can't bring myself to leave her here. Take care,
Minnie
