Hello Friends,

Ladies and Gentleman, (and Gary) Just kidding Gary

Let me take a minute an introduce to you a man who has "ONE" you heard me correctely "ONE"
fricking radiation treatment to go. I assure you there will be a tear in my eye when I walk out of the cancer center tomorrow morning about 10:15am. The Rad technicians were great, treated me with respect and I applaud all nurses who work in the cancer field. I was very lucky in having virtually no side effects from IMRT radiation. I hope all who go after me experience minimal effects from IMRT and hope my experience gives them hope. Where I go from here only God knows. I will be dilligent in my diet and exercise and avoid stress as much as I can. I REFUSE TO WORRY ABOUT SOMETHING I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER.

This whole experience with cancer and the people I've met on the OCF board has brought out a man I didn't know exisited. I will be foreever grateful to all who supported me the last 4 months. My personal thanks to Mandi, KCDC, DEE & PACKER66, GARY A. DONNA, AND BRIAN.

Brian, Along with my donation for xmas I can tell from your posts you need some of Wisconsin's finest Cheese. I will send it early.

Don't want to sound to goofy, remember "YA GOTTA HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR" Dan

Congratulations Dan! I know we haven't "spoken" before, but I have probably read about all of your posts! I wish you a speedy recovery & hopefully that will not be that hard since you haven't had many of the nasty side effects!

My Dad finishes radiation on Friday so I definetely share your excitement!

I'm so happy for you Daniel. I remember my last day, ringing that bell was the BEST feeling. My whole family went, no small feat with seven daughters and two grandaughters and my husband, and we took pictures. Made a real party out of it. I was sick as a dog but smiling! Does your facility have a bell ringing ceremony? They have a beautiful bell at my facility that everyone rings on their last day and the poem written on it is awesome. "Ring this bell three times well and it will clearly say..........My course is run, my treatments done, and I am on my way!" I remember so vividly sitting in that waiting room half way through my treatments, hearing the bell ring and wishing it was me ringing it. They also let you take your mask home but I THREW mine away right there, no way was I taking that thing home with me. So Daniel, I'm glad this part of the road is done for you and that you got through it so easily. Take care, Minnie

Hi Dan, your post brings my memory back to my last treatment on 19/12/01. I remember asking my radiologist if that was really my last treatment. When he said yes, I couldn't help smiling despite the pain of my bruised neck. I had 48 rounds of traditional radiation and during the whole period of treatment, every day was a count down to me.When it came to 3...2...1..0, I heaved a sigh of relief with my eyes full of tears.Almost two years post treatment today, I am doing great and I am sure you are very near the end of the tunnel now.

Karen stage 4 tonsil cancer diagnosed in 9/01.

Karen stage 4B (T3N3M0)tonsil cancer diagnosed in 9/2001.Concurrent chemo-radiation treatment ( XRT x 48 /Cisplatin x 4) ended in 12/01. Have been in remission ever since.

Dan, congratulations. The fact that you didn't have much in the way of side effects is great. I remember your early concerns about it all. Finishing up radiation were two of the better days of my life. Second time better than the first.

And definately it's good to keep a sense of humor.

The bad part is it won't be too long now before you have to quit "recuperating" and get back to work.

Good luck
Bob
