Hi, sorry to hear about Packer's saga. On the plus side he did seem in very good spirits when I went to visit him with Kim a few weeks ago. I've never seen anyone look so comfortable after major surgery!!! Must be that Packer spirit of playing in -45 degree temperatures and thinking scaping frost & snow off the turf for a field goal attempt is an everyday occurrence. Let us know what we can do to help.

Packer 66 had a fistula at back of mouth, leaking under new muscle flap onto carotid artery, artery has been permanently tied off.....still waiting to see if pus will leak onto artery.........doc assures all other arteries are fine, with no chance of stroke...........permanent fistula created to divert saliva away from carotid.....to come home when wound care can be done at home..............really hope this is currently being done by docs........since this RN is trying to wait patiently at home to do wound care........Packer wants to beat the snow home, which is heading our way!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, This sounds slow but good. I do hope Packer will be home soon. He will be done and I will start, On the 13th. I go in to get paperwork started, probably tests that day or the next week, first surgery probably the 21st. and big surgery Dec.5, with plastic team and my ENT.These are terrible dates for the holidays but I took them, I have to get started sometime.I will do a post about this later for anyone who wonders about what I am talking about. Plastics held this up , I wonder if they are more intrested in tummy tucks,Liposuction,Breast augmentation and Botox, than someone who needs the bottom of their face. Wonder after they put me back together they could give me the face of a 25 years old as a bonus.Just kidding, Filling in the gaps I have will do.Hope Packer gets home soon with no more problems! gnelson

Two drains out..one to go......seems to go from neck to ribs................Packer 66 is just Lahey`s most wonderful patient.........while in the meantime....one cat is pulling her hair out, one is facing the wall refusing to eat, and the dog keeps developing temporary paralysis.........the wife is just a blithering idiot..............we`re still waiting to develop infection, which seems bizarre to me, since the longer you stay in the hospital, the greater your chances of infection.............but don`t quote me..........I`m just a nurse........thanks for all the support, I`m printing everything out for Packer................prayers still appreciated!!!

Pom Poms still raised high for Packer's progress and this is the busiest prayer chain! Keep the faith and keep us posted.

Hugs to Packer,

Kim

I'm worried about the cat and the dog though...I'm running out of room for pom poms but can add them to the prayer chain!

Packer`s oldest cat.....14 yrs, died in my arms yesterday of kidney failure......I`m so glad he wasn`t here to experience it......stupid social service wanted me to tell him she was very sick, so he wouldn`t be shocked when he came home and I told him she was dead..........seems stupid for him to worry in the hospital that she was so sick without him.........so, I told him the best I could........p.s. docs are quite pleased with his progress
