He has done amazingly well and I am so proud of him! The first few days were hell for him. As of today, the NG tube has been removed and he tolerated clear liquids for the first time this morning...trach has been removed...all drainage tubes removed, and he's getting around with a walker! We expect that he will be discharged on Mon or Tues! I can't praise the doctors (and God) enough...Buzz had bilateral resection, and we have only been told that nodes on both sides were cancerous...NOT told how many, but he will have chemo/radiation...It is Dr. Sullivan's policy not to discuss prognosis until discharge, so no more info at this time. THANKS to all of you for your prayers..and thanks to OCF for all the useful information!

I'm so happy for you both. He's well ahead of me to be honest. I wasn't up and around for approx. 2 weeks and didn't take anything by mouth until day 11. Keep up the good spirits, the worst is behind you now.
Minnie

All staples removed from neck; all bandaged removed from trach site, hip and leg! He has a raging yeast infection in his mouth, and some swelling of the right leg because of the surgery. Cancer in ONLY ONE NODE! He is to have 6 weeks of IMRT; Total of 30 treatments....No chemo recommended...I am in hopes that the worst is behind Buzz. He has been walking with the assistance of a cane and eating with no problems. I almost feel guilty for posting such a positive report, in light of Cookey's loss, Petey's plight, and hurt for others who are having such a rough time...Forgive me for 'bubbling', but we are so grateful for his progress thus far! Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and support!
