Hi all,

I'm not sure if this message applies to the Survivor section yet, but I thought I'd start here.

I saw my Radio Onc today and he was pleased with me - I don't see him unless the Head & Neck Clinic think so in the future. Head & Neck Clinic are happy with me also - saw them last month. My dentist liked my mouth - he said it doesn't look like a radiation mouth, and the Opthalmic Surgeon was happy with my eyes and head (even though I have noticed a sudden change with my eyes, could be age, dunno).

My saliva is slowly returning, even though I didn't have IMRT (too close after surgery), and I can eat things at last! Not very much, but at least I can have vegies and meat! Things still taste strange though. Ulcers occasionally happen, but that's OK, compared to the hell before.

The only thing that puzzles me is when I have asked about blood tests, MRI, CT, etc, the docs feel there is no need as yet. Good, I hope.

All I can say is "hang in there everybody, it does get better". smile My best wishes are always there for you all, and I'm so glad I found this site.

Just wanted to share ...

Cheers!

Tizz (Stage 3/4, mets to lymph node, 41 removed, 1 positive, primary in soft palate near the tonsil, radical neck dissection 17/12/03, radio finished 15/3/04)

Tizz,

Congratulations on your good news -- I'd say this does belong in the Survivor section!

I agree with you about expecting scheduled follow-up visits with your doctors. I know I had them at least every 2-3 months early on, and I still see my oncologist at least twice a year.

Best wishes for continued great results!

Cathy

Tizz,

You were officially a survivor the day you got your diagnosis! I am glad things are going well...you certainly earned it! I hope every day gets better than the last.

Tizz,

GREAT NEWS!! Every exam passed is a celebration! I started to give a "toast" everytime I heard on this site that another test/exam has been passed successfully....well, since I read this site at work I've had to use coffee to toast with since I'd be a bit tipsy from the good news I've read lately!! So...I lift my cup to you, Tizz, many more good ones!!! - Kris

Great news, Tizz

So pleased that you are now a survivor. I have wondered about scans etc but like you, my oncologists think it is only necessary if a problem arises. I don't know how reliable blood tests are with H&N because I had totally normal blood when I had Stage IV cancer.

I love good news, love from Helen cool

Congratulations, Tizz!
I wonder about the CT scans too, I am not scheduled for one until end of August (end of radiation 6/11). I feel like I should have one every week just to make sure...

TIZZ,

Congrats my friend. Keep on fighting brother.

I love to hear good things on this site.

I am getting off now because it's Friday and I want this to be the last thing I read before the weekend.

Thank you for making it better TIZZ!

Peace and Love
