Derek - so glad that things went so well for you and that you are a little calmer about everything. It does help to take action and be doing something so that you can feel more in control of what's happening. Good for you!

ha small world cookey eh, im not from Killie, im from Stevenston which is only afew towns away though, next to sunny saltcoats by the sea on the west coast, couldnt believe it when i seen your post, i used to be a ballboy for kilmarnock football club for years in my early teens though !!

im still feeling a bit better today though which is good, face is pretty sore but hopefully wont last too long, was back in at kilmarnock today doing some shopping for bits and pieces i seen yesterday and some more christmas goodies for my daughter.

one thing that is bugging the life out me though is the fact that the pain when swallowing is back.

this is what prompted me into getting the white patches checked out again 4 years down the line, i was scared the pain on swallowing ( only 1 side of the throat, same side as the majority of the white patches ) was related to the white patch in the floor of my mouth ??

it seemed to dissapear with the antibiotics first time about 9 weeks ago, then it seemed to return again, though i wasnt sure whether it really was or if my mind was working overtime, but i think today with my calmer state i can safely say the pain on swallowing is back, though maybe it has something to do with the 2 biopsys on the same side of face ?? i dont know and its bugging me.i think i explained it wrong to the consultant yesterday, im sure i said sore throat rather than pain swallowing.

will just need to wait and see the outcome of the results and if all is o.k in mouth, then i will have to follow up the throat situation, will need to push for an appointment to the ENT department.

also if it was invasive scc would i not have more profound symptoms in the space of 1 and a half to 2 years ??

Hi Derek .

I love Saltcoats,used to go to the beach there and Largs when i was a liitle girl.
I would tend to agree about the time line thing ,but sweetie my advice would be don't try to second guess,just try to be calm and patient.

thats great cookey, saltcoats used to be a bit of a beach hot spot eh, largs is a nice wee town also, like to take my daughter up to largs , only half an hour on the train, nice shore front walk. though im not sure so many people go swimming in the sea up here just as often !!

yeah i know i shouldnt be second guessing though and will need to be paitent and hang on in there, though as i say im much calmer than ive been at any point in the last 4 months just now, i took some heart from the comments of the hospital staff and the fact that finding out that the last time it was only an irritation.

I don't want to scare you but a sore throat when you swallow is what I had when I was diagnosed the second time round. If it is not clearing up with antibiotics, I would get to an ENT ASAP to get scoped and a CT or PET scan. Please have this checked out by someone who specializes in H&N cancers.
