I NEED SOME ADVISE,PLEASE.... Still fighting to get my "emergency medicade". I think I have found a solution through a program called Project Access. (3 rings & a voice) Here is my problem... My GP called this morning and said that Palm Beach Cancer Institute called them and said they were returning my biopsy slides as they do not "read" them there??? My appt. is 4-2-07 and $800.00, and they are to stage my cancer and Dx & Tx I suppose. But now this, They Don't Read Slides??? I'm really at a loss here, and need to know if maybe I'm going to a Food Store for a Haircut???? THEY, and I repeat, THEY are the ones who asked me for the slides. I'm going to call again now, as everyone was at lunch at noon.(not a good sign) and confirm this. Then I'm gonna see if they are listed on www.quack.com PLEASE ADVISE! I hope you can forgive me, but this is getting way too comical. And humor is "my way" of handling it. I breakdown and cry sometimes when I'm alone. Anyway my Cancer Fight Song is "Welcome TO My Nightmare" by Alice Cooper (perfect lyrics) Impatiently awaiting YOUR THOUGHTS. Love and Prayers to All...PeteyB

If they don't read the slides, why are they not sending them to the folks that do read the slides? On second thought, your appt at hospital is so close, they would probably lose them.
Keep your sense of humor. You will need it to get through this.
Take care, Eileen

I'm getting real pissed off at this and I don't even know you. What the "F" are they doing down in FL. It's time to start screaming for your life. If I was down there I'd go and do it with you. Can anyone down there help this guy? We can't afford to loose one of us because of an incompetent healthcare system. I know you wouldn't be treated like that up here at Beth Israel. I'm rooting for you. Don't let them let you down. Let us know how we can help.
Good luck, Rob J.

I dont even know what to say ...I agree with Rob, it is very frustrating and annoying !! I am more then willing to call and do whatever I can ..I understand how to get around some red tape havin worked in a medical office ..however with the HPPA laws it is tough. As far as emergencey MA usually in NY it goes through within a week or so however they can give u a temporary card ! Otherwise MA has 45 to approve the case ( I used to sign people up for Ins in the Medical office ) I am more then willing to calm palm beach and see what there story is ..BUT Rob is right MAYBE it is time to get NASTY ...I dont mean Cussin at them ..I mean straight up tell them..This is MY life we are talking about ...YOU are providing a service to ME so This is what I need ...I just looked it up and Palm beach is part of Dana Farber ( I went to Boston ) and They ( DF) does test the slides themselves ..I know I went to them and have the Path report in hand. So tell thim ..IF the FL center cant do it ..then THEY need to send it to one of their centers that has a path lab ....tell them you know that BOSTON does .... and that Dana Farber DOES !!!! SO I would address that with them !!!
