I am 6 weeks out of treatment and waiting to hear when they will do surgery. About 3-4 weeks ago I started getting depressed although I didn't know it; my family noted it.
I am now on Wellbrutin for about one week, which worsens my dry mouth but seem to be improving my mode.
I am looking for a support group to give me more information about how long this depression will last and any other suggestions for dealing with the depression.

You've come to the right place Joe for support with coping, this is a wonderful group of people with a wealth of experience and information between them.
Just trawl your way through previous posts on the various boards and you will glean a lot of insight, but I'm sure people will start replying to you personally.

Anti-depressants are an excellent idea--has your doctor suggested any counselling?

Hello Joe, and welcome to OCF! It is my understanding that many suffer from depression following treatment; I know my husband does. From the looks of your 'signature', you have a right to be depressed! Follow your doctor's orders, take your medication and come here often! There are many others who can personally relate to your situation.
In the meantime, we will certainly be here for you if we can help in any way...

I had a similar experience to you Joe, even after they told me I was disease free! I think we use up so much adrenaline between dealing with the initial diagnosis and fear/uncertainty, then in getting through the treatments, that when they are finally over, we have nothing left in reserve to deal with the "normal" day to day things.

On the bright side, I am now about 4 months out from the end of treatment, and things are much better. I still have my down periods, but it is less pervasive and less severe.

Also, keep in mind that I had my surgery before radiation and chemo, not after. So part of your issue may well be that you feel like you have been through hell and now have surgery to face.

You will get through it, and we will help.
