I have a little redness in there, and some thing, 2-3 very little "rods" or "sticks" that easily bleed are in there. I also have leukoplakia on one side of tongue but I had tooth infection for many years in the spot where these white lines are. I have it for 2 years, it started at the same time as tongue coating and phlegm gathering in throat.

Rods??? that is odd... You should have a biopsy to rule out any cancer just to be on the safe side... Hugs.

Hello Haus -
Welcome to the family. Someone here will be able to answer your question, it just won't be me, as my symptoms and diagnosis are different.

Most people start in the Introduce Yourself forum. That is where we all look for new members. I will PM Christine to move your thread there, you will get a lot more answers there.

Hang in there, answers will be coming.

Tony

Hello Tony,

Sorry, I didn't knew that I should start there, thanks for informing and for taking action to get me more answers!

As for my introduction, here it is smile
My name is Piotr (Peter), 24, actually from Poland and I, well,
the truthiest truth is that I'm not diagnosed with cancer yet. Health Care in here is so bad, that I'm pretty paranoid about my health and I have many good reasons to be, because health specialists in here seems to be a little uneducated and out of ideas. They don't want to do biopsies, they say that this thing that I've described eartlier is nothing to be worry about... So I research the forums for answers on my own. This year I have found a medical mistake that were in my jaw for 12 years, and it was messing up my oral hygiene. I'm also a smoker since I was 15. I also have some tongue coating that won't disappear for 2 years, and when I scrape it off then that spot with these "rods" (and by rods I mean 2 milimeter tall, red and thin things that sticks out of the center of my tongue) bleeds a very little.

I'm gonna read Your stories now, and if someone knows if I should be alarmed or not then I'd be very thankful for leaving answer here. smile

Piotr - I'm going to suggest you push your dr. to send you to an ENT for a biopsy. Now admittedly scratching the top of your tongue could very easily cause bleeding, and usually the top of the tongue is full of taste buds that can swell - particularly if you have some kind of an infection - or chronic irritation (which can be caused by smoking) So possibly with swollen buds, and scratching them blood is possible. However, you need to rule out anything life threatening (an underlying tumor?) SO again I stress, you need to push your dr. to send you to an ENT (Ear nose and throat specialist - one that deals with oral cancer) and have him or her look at the area. Most importantly YOU NEED TO QUIT SMOKING!!!!! hugs and welcome again.

I pretty much responded similar to another member here on another post that It could be of any of the hundreds of oral conditions, other than cancer, maybe a raised papillae or taste bud, thrush, and thrush, a candidiasis, can be combined with other oral conditions like leukoplakia candidiasis, etc. Oral conditions can transform to other conditions, like systemic infections, cancer, although there are different percentages, some that are likely or unlikely to occur. Maybe see an ENT who specializes with head and neck cancer, who may biopsy or send you to the appropriate doctor for further care.

Good luck with everything.
