Thank you very much for your well wishes smile They are lazering off some Dysplasia and biopsying the taste bud to just make sure that it is not cancer. I really appreciate everyone's support!

Diagnosed 8/5-tongue cancer
T2 tumor with partial-glossectomy 8/13/13 along with neck dissection HPV positive
Path report all clear margins!
11/5/13- enlarged taste bud and mild Dysplasia
Surgery planned for 11/12
11/12 cancer cells removed
Staged increased to stage 3. T3N1
Chemo and rads started 3/4/14
33 rads and 6 chemo
Peg tube 3/7/14
37 radiation and 8 chemo treatments
Completed treatment 4/25/14
recurrence 12/1/15
surgery for Hemiglossectomy 12/11/15

You are very fortunate! Dysplasia doesnt always turn into cancer but its not a bad idea to get rid of it while its easily removable. Dont be surprised to have it return. Ive seen many members have it come back even after a couple surgeries. Try to think positive, its not cancer.

JMO, if it were me I would get another opinion before I let them laser anything in my mouth or off my tongue.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

I would want to be certain it was dysplasia only but would be glad to see it gone, particularly if it is superficial. A tumor is one thing, as is a confirmed cancer - then I would want it removed in a proper surgery setting with good margins, but I would want dysplasia out.
