Paul, thanks for checking in! Sorry the surgery didnt go better but there is at least a good treatment plan. Wishing you all the best with your recovery and upcoming procedure.

Hope everything goes well with the new treatment plan, Paul. Good that your carotid artery and other veins are OK so that they can proceed on a more positive note. Sounds like they are moving fast and taking good care of youl Keep us updated whenever you can.

Good to hear from you Paul. Sounds like quick reaction and move to the alternate plan. Hang tough. Keep you in thoughts and prayers.

NED - Free but am I

Good reports now 10 years out.

Actually, that is very good news Paul. Now treatment can progress.

DX Dec '10 SCC BOT T4aN2bM0 HPV+ve.Cisplatin x3 35 IMRT.
PET 6/11 clear.
R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!

Due to the trismus, they had to administer anthesesia, oyygen through the nasal passage. Once knock out it was ok, but they had to do several numbing sprays, some on cotton sticks, in the nose and mouth, before they started. Still better than a trach I was somewhat expecting, and I tried to open my mouth as far as I could to help prevent, which my ENT said was fine, but not for the anesthesiologist.

Cheryl, my infection is gone, for now. I did the pre-op physical, blood work with flying colors smile. I was given several antibiotic infusions for another reason after the test I had with some closing devices installed in the femoral.
